We’re thrilled to share some big news—we’re launching our first podcast, Adaptation! You can listen here or on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Each episode explores the journey of books as they make their way from the page to the screen, diving into the art and challenges of transforming stories for film and television.
We sit down with authors, screenwriters, producers, agents, and directors to hear, first hand, what it takes to bring books to life in film and television. Hosted by Deborah Stoll, and produced by Silver Lake Reading Club, Adaptation bridges the literary and Hollywood worlds, offering listeners a behind-the-scenes look at how stories transform, and the people who make it all happen.
Deborah Stoll is an award-winning author, screenwriter, lyricist, journalist, and animator. Her non-fiction books include Unvarnished (Harper Collins 2020) and Drop In (Harper Collins 2024). Her articles, essays, and illustrations have appeared in The Economist, Los Angeles Times, Wall Street Journal, San Francisco Chronicle, LA Weekly, Portland Mercury, and Punch Drink. Her songs have been licensed for shows like Extraordinary, Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, CSI Miami and Glee, and for the films For A Good Time, Call, Slanted, and Space Cadet. Her feature and television scripts have been recognized by Sundance, Slamdance and The Hollywood Screenwriters Contest.
Having these conversations has been such a joyful and enlightening experience for us, and we hope listening feels like being in the room with us.
We love hearing from everyone, so please feel free to send questions and comments to adaptation@silverlakeliterary.com.
xoxo,
Helen & Deborah
